Today the concept of ‘contained databases’ caught my attention and it was indeed good to know that this feature can be really helpful as contained databases can be moved from one server to another and application can start reaching the database within minutes as other dependency like ‘users’,’mapping SID’ is not required.

Contained databases hold Tables,Functions,Logins,Application level jobs etc and there is no mapping of users is available in master database.

Currently I am testing this feature in Denali and will come-up with more explanation on this concept.Please stay tuned.
